i didnt actually jump on the strobist bandwagon, but it doesnt mean i dont appreciate the ingenuity and enjoy solving problems and creating things. its just sometimes, i’d rather make photos than make light modifiers. however…

low resolution girl…
Alex Mason sent me a link to this photo of this girl’s halloween costume. i agree with him, it is brilliance. If you know this girl, tell her she should date Alex. he is very good looking and a for reals track star.
the international language of camera.
my dear friend Rachel Sauer is one of the greatest and most genuine voices i’ve ever known. i find great joy in the fact that she has packed her wagon and scuttled to china for a bit to teach english and to learn a bit about the world.
she has an amazing blog that chronicles her adventures. every word is worth reading, but i’d suggest you start with this current post about how her camera bridged a gap between her and a train full of locals.
she is wonderful. this is proof.
it’s no secret, i love those folks at WiebeTech.

the geniuses at WiebeTech have done it again!!! these guys make great products and any issue ive had, they’ve solved. so easy to deal with. but now i’ve got a a new reason to love these guys, their innovation. this is the Ultraduck. you can expect a full review from me soon.
Mark Seliger is ripping off some chick in Mexico!!!

yeah, ok, maybe i got that wrong.
they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but when does it become distasteful or criminal?
this is so blatant that is really sad. read about it here.

PDN announces Mike Johnston, on his site The Online Photographer, has written a critique of what he calls “The Worst Photograph Ever Made.” It’s an image shot by Annie Leibovitz for the 2009 Lavazza espresso calendar.
the picture above is the image he was talking about, and while i do think it is really not very good at all, i think Daryl Lang was correct in saying “Is anybody willing to defend September-October?” that one is just fucking awful. seriously. the Leibovitz is a visionary and an icon, but this is a perfect example of how every one really drops the ball sometimes. i hope it is an inspiration to people to just do better, instead of just a chance to laugh at our heroes.
Feist on Sesame Street
Sesame Street is 39 years old (older than even me!) and im not sure why im surprised, but little has changed on the show. They still have guest performances by contemporary musicians. the first thing i saw when i woke up this morning was this video of Feist + muppets and it made me so happy.
even better is (my imaginary gf) Norah Jones with Elmo but my favorites will still be any of the dozens of times John Denver performed on the show.

Photobombers (USFW)

Photobombers = people who hilariously ruin your nice little picture. Some call it “that guy“; we call it photobombing. (from List of the Day)
these are hilarious. im predicting a wave of imitators (please send me links to evidence)
