some people know, and maybe some don’t, but actor jeff bridges is a pretty interesting photographer. for a few years now he has been documenting the films he has been in and the results are pretty cool. it’s an insiders view.

Living My Life Faster.

i’m not sure who is the first person out there to take this approach, but i’d love to see all of them. more on JK and his project here.

Most of my friends know of my personal self portrait project. over the years ive seen quite a few other self portrait projects that i’ve found inspiring, but tonight i stumbled on to one that is in the top 5 just for the length of commitment.

Dan Hanna has been making his for 17 years. He calls it “The Aging Project.” it is amazing and i’m excited to see what he winds up with in another 17 years.

(my warning though is the music is a little cheeseball. i found i enjoyed watching it even more with the audio off or at least turned down sorry dan. no offense.).

he says “The following image is of the apparatus that I am using to create a stop-motion animation of myself getting older. Every day I position myself in the center of this ring and take two simultaneous photos (180 degrees apart). The ring is marked off for the 365 days of the year and a pair of crosshairs (mounted on a sliding wooden fixture) are incremented along the circumference of the ring to line up with these markings. I use the crosshairs to position my head as nearly as possible in the center of the ring. So far, I’ve accumulated approximately 17 years worth of photos (the project was started in ‘91).”
