david loves barbara...

sometimes you just know.

this is one of those times. i am in love with barbara. i am crazy about her. i think she is right for me and i think i can be right for her. i know i haven't done much of anything right for her for much too long, but now i want to either set that straight or put it behind me and i want us to be together and to focus on being in love.

i hope it isn't too late for her to feel the same way.

barbara i am in love with you and i want everyone to know this.

Mike V. and a mountain of trash.

Chance sometimes isn't chance. i was in Norfolk, driving with the intention of going home, but not really needing to be home, when i saw a sign for Virginia Beach. i thought "hey, i've never been there, and i don't think it is far, and i'm really not in a hurry to get anywhere." so, i followed the signs and wound up passing Mt. Trashmore.
i saw the sign, then i saw the hill, and THEN I SAW THE SKATEPARK!!!
i just drove past and made a mental note to figure out how to get there on my way back. i didn't even think there was still skating there. so i was psyched and i kept driving trying to go see the ocean.
finally highway 264 runs into a row of hotels on the beach, so i just pulled over and got out of my car. as chance would have it, i got out of my car right next to a skate/surf shop and i needed more change for the parking meter, so i went in.
on the TVs they were showing some video with Mike Vallely on it. i started talking to a guy who worked there and asked what the video is and how to get off the highway to the skatepark.
i looked at the video again and it was showing Mike V. talking with Ian, in Ian's house in my neighborhood. how weird. so i told the guy thanks, and i bought a copy of the video. the video is called Drive.
when i finally got home the next day i stank so bad, but the first thing i did was sit down and watch the video.
so good.
this is the best thing on skateboarding i've seen in ages. this moves me and makes me proud that skateboarding has been and always will be part of my life.
thanks mike.

32...

happy birthday to me.

crazy to be 32. i was at huddo's a couple hours ago, and commenting on how he and i are mostly the same as we were in college. i still feel the same, except maybe a little smarter. not that i didn't feel like i knew it all then, but now i realize i have something new to learn everyday. i'll keep you posted on what that is as i learn it.

i have some work to do, so i'll leave you with my new pal Kristin Grauer. i made this pic of her outside of Carl's a few hours ago, and it is one of the things that put such a big smile on my face, on such an aweful day.

thanks kristin. you rule.

28 days later...

so far, probably my favorite film of the year, which says a lot, because i've really enjoyed films this year.

my advice?

stay and watch the credits, because there is an alternate ending to the film which plays AFTER the credits. i did not know this, and i am either shelling out another $9 to go see this again, or i'll be buying the DVD. maybe both.

this definately was shades of "Day of the Triffids" but took that in a genuinely scary direction. good times.

48 hours; WDC to NYC and back.

NYC was great. it was a whirlwind trip but much was accomplished.

highlights include;

jeff and eric's constant threats.
all of the looks people give eric's car.
hanging with SSP, williamsburg's "sandal star posse."
chasing neckface.
the view from highline's hideout.
the case of the flashlight bandit.
thurston moore, cause he's smart.
seeing Ground Zero again.
dave letterman.
that hot dog i had before i left.

i know there is more, but i should be a sleeping monkey. rest is my friend.

no strings attached...

(WARNING: Adult Content)

as an early birthday present to myself i decided to cross another item off of my "to do in this lifetime list." i lucked into stumbling upon a Washington Post review of a Puppet Show i have been wanting to see for quite awhile.
after the show i got a chance to chat with the stars of the show.

(WARNING: Adult Content)

i also got to meet one of the future stars of this particular style of puppetry. Josh "The Elastic Sack Man" Connolly will make soon be making his hometown of Brockport, NY proud, because he is about to begin touring as part of the puppet show.
it was a great show, and if you get the chance, be sure to check it. in her no pun intended critique of the show barb said "that's nuts." my plan is to get my roommate Jason "Belt Boy" Hamacher to audition, but first, i'm off to NYC in less than an hour. be back late monday or early tuesday.

ps. i bought the book, so you can expect me to be posting some of my newfound skills in the near future.

GRANDMOTHER OF QUADRUPLETS!!!

After weeks of patiently waiting Kenoki is now the proud grandmother of four.
She said "last night i went into her room and there they were! already cleaned! no gross stuff ANYWHERE, it was like the stork came!"
the young ones aren't yet named. Kenoki said "i gotta wait for their personalities. i might name them all via the von trap family. my cat doesn't have a name either so we were gonna give her one after the babies. the von cat family."
She went on to say that the youngsters are taking it easy for a few days. Currently their interests are limited, "all they do all day is struggle to lay on top of each other."
expect pictures soon!!!

the Late Show with Pants of God...

next monday, August 4, 2003, i'm going to be sitting front row at the Late Show with David Letterman. i gotta admit, i'm kind of psyched. the Late Show is definate americana, and i love that stuff. i'm pretty excited to add this to the list of have dones.
it was eric's idea. i'm going up there to work on a project with him. he had already lined up tickets for he and jeff, so i had to call and answer a question about the late show. i was nervous. i didn't tell them i don't have a TV.
the question was too easy (who is Rupert G.?) so i'm in now, and i'm psyched.
also, look what i found on Dave's website. This guy loves pants too. coincidence?
